UNITE! in the name of hippy whacking
March 16, 2008 -
Here’s a good article on it by people who are all for recycling. http://www.recycling-guide.org.uk
UNITE! Thousands of half arsed under-researched opinion mongering by thousands of people that don’t matter, won’t make scratch difference.
It’s nice to see so many people care about the environment, but listening to most of this hypocritical trash from people and councilors is enough to grate iron.
Manchester council met in Bury to discuss congestion charging for to increase public transport and reduce the number of cars on the road.
People who would be affected by this? The minimum wage staff, people who would pay nothing to not much, upper management.
How did the council arrive in Bury? Chauffeured jags, Mercs and a 2 litre Volvo. Not one by public transport. The chauffeured vehicle’s then sat outside, engine running, for over two hours. On another note a muppet at the supermarket protesting against the distance the food travels, finishes, picks up his and others placards and gets in his Land Rover Discovery.
People can only change when the industries change with consideration towards the creation of products and goods that better the existence of humanity by utilizing waste rather than creating it and by the creation of products and produce that can then be recycled for reuse without using more energy then was taken to primarily create said item.
Physics doesn’t quite allow for the creation of energy from nothing so we’d have to settle for using around the same or a small amount more but possibly creating said energy by recycling another waste or via environmentally friendly energy.Wind power is nothing more than Gloss to entertain the masses, We’re eco cause we pay a tariff on our electric to pay for wind farms… fantastic, though they’re usually only running at 20-30% capacity and their maximum capacity is pathetic; the iron used to make it takes masses of energy to create and mine, these things actually have to be transported by ships that don’t run on bleeding fairy dust; and best of all the energy/lifetime isn’t enough to justify the original flaming costs. (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/ & http://www.topix.com/tech/alt-energy/)
Most of today’s solutions are no better then they were in the 80′s when the last Save the planet splurge was created, then fell sorely on its arse.
You can’t reduce consumption; it will only ever increase as the population increases. As poverty no longer means early death and higher infant mortality the poorer areas give birth to increasing numbers thus further increasing consumption.
We cant remove cars from the road, we used to have a great UK wide tram and rail structure till the oil industries bribed the government into scrapping it (there’s forethought), now the cars so significant and such a big earner in regards to tax (road, fuel, insurance tax, mot, vat [parts/servicing/new-purchases/roadside recovery]) that you have to ask yourself; if cars tomorrow could be sold to run on air with no pollution, no environmental effect, a) what would we do with the current 33 million cars.
Where would the government get the billions in tax back from? Granted road tax could stay around as we’d all still be driving on tarmac and insurance will be necessary till computers start to do the driving but petrol tax is a humongous beast of a government fund and by far their favourite cash cow. Its controlled by war, poverty and genocides abroad, the US has a stake in keeping prices stable as it guzzles more than its fair share of the stuff and best of all you can ramp the price up every year and claim even more money without giving any real bloody reason as to why you should be getting it.
Fuel tax was a Green tax added during that old bag (Maggy Thatcher’s) reign of terror and has been used to fund the NHS, government bonuses and basically anything but bloody research into replacement fuel technologies. All in all, this recycle and save the world, blog about how to reduce your carbon footprint is simply pissing in the wind till industry stops burning the world, China stops quadrupling its production and poisoning its country into the grave, India slows down its industry, technology is produced and made cheap enough for the masses to afford, cars turn green, politicians stop lining their own pockets and start spending the money on things other than pointless quango’s created to burn money, the middle east stops blowing itself up over oil, people turn feral and start living off the land and animals around them, people stop having stupid amounts of children increasing the overpopulation (or more likely a retro-virus is created that finally kills off a huge percentage of the human populous, finally returning some bloody balance to the world), people stop relying on computers that drink electricity to live, electronics use fully renewable technology, power-stations use 100% natural energy.
Even then were probably still nackered as the world seems to run a cycle of destruction and renewal anyway, we’ve just thrown it off balance.
The worlds on fire, and were all pouring on the fuel, it doesn’t really matter how much we slow our flow as theres always someone else, maybe not in this country but somewhere, that will pour more to compensate.
